I rented the Villa to celebrate my Birthday with my friends and it was a great choice! It's a very beautiful house, in perfect condition and absolutely clean. When we arrived at the airport 3(!) girls waited for us and guided us to a van that took us to the Villa. Shortly after Stuart, the owner, came by and we handled the check in quick and effective. He also gave us a tour of the house and all questions were answered. The pick-up truck we hired in advance through Stuart was already at the villa when we arrived and the return was as convenient - at the last day someone came and picked up the car (without even bothering us). As the Villa I can highly recommend this service too. Also the in-house chef we hired 2 times was very good at a reasonable price. I booked this villa as it seemed to suit my needs for a spacious property away from the bustle of the main resorts It exceeded our expectations. It was on a hillside overlooking a forest of palm trees, and the coast. The accommodation was perfect for our family, with all space you could need and rooms for the children to relax in and watch films in. The pool area was lovely, and was safe for our five year old daughter. The accommodation is very flexible. It actually has five bedrooms, all en-suite, and ten people could fit in it comfortably, we used the three top bedrooms and it did not feel too big for our family of four The villa is five minutes away from the main ring road around the island, so with a car, everywhere is easily accessible Probably the thing which stood out over other villas we have stayed in, was the service which came with the villa. We were collected at the airport, and dropped off at the end of the stay, our car hire was organised for us, and was delivered to the villa. The place was cleaned daily, and there is a chef available if required, who did a fantastic job, and was very reasonable. There is also internet provided, and a large selections of DVD's and CD's in the villa. Stuart, the villa manager was on hand if we needed anything, and he made sure that we had the relaxing and enjoyable stay that we needed. An excellent place to relax and enjoy a 5* holiday. The villa and surrounds were amazing, but a car essential to reach the hilly location. So many affordable local restaurants no need to cook. Although we did have a local chef in to cook a special meal which was lovely. From the moment we arrived (5days late) to the moment we left everything about Villa Maphraaw was perfect! It is a first class, 5* villa for sure! Everything you need is there! Stuart was wonderful, organising trips, chefs & massages for us - he was only ever a phonecall away if we needed anything! There is a great english speaking taxi service available from the villa to take you all over the island - the number is on the mobile phone supplied by Stuart at the Villa! Hiring a car is a necessity as it is quite a steep climb to the villa and it will also help you to explore the beautiful island of Samui! The views from the villa are unsurpassable!! The Fisherman's Village in Bo Phut is a must, many great restaurants and bars can be found here! Jun Hom Seafood restaurant is practically opposite the entrance gates - great food and a fantastic beach front location! Have already recommended the villa to friends and would recommend it to everyone!! We went as a family of 7 - ageing from 14 - 46, and everyone really enjoyed the superb stay at the villa. Had a great stay here. We were travelling as a group of 5 Guys and they were happy to accomodate us. Koh Samui was our last destination in Thailand. Prior to Koh Samui we'd booked the Execuitive Suites at the Amari Hotel in Pattaya and stayed at the Banyan Tree in Bangkok. I'm happy to stay that Villa Maphraaw did not disappoint. All the other reviews are correct- the set up's amazing and the attention to detail is 5*. Defo need transport, but the location encourages you to explore the island. Villa Maphraaw surpassed all our expectations - pictures simply don't do it justice! The villa offers high quality accommodation, a stunning swimming pool and breathtaking views over Northern Samui and Koh. Nested high in the hills amongst coconut trees, the villa is private and extremely peaceful - the only sounds often being the constant chatter of the crickets and animals. Maphraaw has all the facilities and mod cons you could ask for, including BBQ, large DVD range and quiet, effective air conditioning in the bedrooms. The villa is homely and spacious and can easily accommodate 10 adults (as it suggests) without feeling you're living on top of each other. Stuart, the Villa Guest Manager, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable giving us great recommendations for local restaurants, taxis, supermarkets and attractions providing a truly personal, yet uninstrusive service. The villa is only 1 year old. The first sight of villa was breathtaking with amazing views & good facilities. We experienced some teething problems, but we were compensated accordingly by Stuart, our Guest Manager (and owner). We would return to the villa due to its peaceful & unspoilt location. The closest villa is approximately 150 metres away if you are concerned by the remoteness of the villa's situation. Photos do not do this villa justice! The villa is beautiful with wonderful architectural details, lovely furnishings and just about everything one needs. We felt very decadent swimming in the pool in the evening with the underwater lights on, the Jacuzzi bubbling away and the outside speakers playing music. What more can one ask for? After our return to Germany, I told my friends that being back in our house felt like living in a garage after our stay at the villa. We were hoping for a fantastic holiday to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and the Villa Maphráaw did not disappoint. From the moment we made our first enquiry through to leaving the villa, all our requirements were met and the service we received was excellent. The villa itself is absolutely stunning and we enjoyed many hours sitting on the terraces taking in the view out to the sea and the islands. Everything you need is available in the villa from the fabulous DVD collection to the local SIM card which saved a fortune in mobile telephone costs, every small detail had been thought out carefully.
